What to do when there's no signal

Nothing. Keep working.

Jobs save to the phone first

The moment a driver taps Confirm drop, Save collection or Save tip, the job is saved on the phone itself. It does not need signal to be saved safely — even force-closing the app or losing power can't lose a job that's already been saved.

The sync badge on each job

Every job on the list shows a small badge:

  • Pending sync — saved on the phone, waiting to reach the office.
  • Synced — the office has this job, including its photos and signatures.
  • Needs attention — the office received it but something about it was rejected — see below.

Getting back online

Tipslip tries to sync automatically: when the app is opened, the moment the phone gets signal again, and periodically in the background. You don't need to press anything. If you want to try sooner, pull down on the job list to refresh — this also triggers a sync.

If a job says "Needs attention"

This means the record reached the office but was rejected for a reason the driver on the phone can't fix (for example, a formatting problem). Nothing is lost — the job and its details are still there. Ask the office to check it; they can see exactly what needs fixing.

"No signal" here is different from a Defra status

"Pending sync" / "Synced" / "Needs attention" describe whether the job has reached the office from the driver's phone. They are separate from whether the office has since reported it to Defra — see Understanding Defra statuses.
